Ramblings of Daniel Ross-Jones
Consulting
While my present demands of seminary education are great, I am available for consulting with your congregation, judicatory, or organization. My unique talents and expertise combine with formulating your vision, hopes and dreams into a strategy for communication development and success.
My areas of focus are:
- Communication auditing. Where does your organization’s communication stand presently? How does your organizational structure enhance or detract from communication? Where are the existing lines of messaging and reporting? How much and how effectively do your communication efforts reach the intended audience(s)? Are your materials on mission and brand, or do they need some improvement to make the mark? A communication audit addresses these questions and more, and should be the cornerstone of any strategic planning initiative such as a change in leadership, building campaign, program launch or redevelopment, or any other major organizational shift. Healthy organizations will conduct communication audits at least every three years, more preferably annually.
- Technology assessment. Technology, effectively used, is not only a huge asset to organizational communication, but an equally large responsibility. Despite advertising and marketing campaigns, and the best intents of volunteer professionals within member-driven organizations, there is no one-size-fits-all turnkey solution in this area. Your organization may very well need a large-scale network, top-of-the-line audio/visual equipment, and on-site professional quality printing presses. Don’t waste limited, valuable resources on too much or poor quality equipment. An extensive assessment will include audience surveying, skills inventories, and physical constraints.
- New media (Web) usage. Do you know how to friend on Facebook? Hashtag your tweets on Twitter? Or did you read an article about Friendster and MySpace and wonder if now is the time to join? Is your organization’s blog a Web don’t? With millions of resources competing for attention in the Internet with every click at a dime a dozen, it is crucially important for your organization not to just be online, but to be active and strategic in the silicon environment.
I take a holistic view of projects I accept, including the resources of the organizations with which I consult. That translates into fees appropriate for the work I do with your individual organization, often resulting in significant savings for your organization over large, corporate-driven professional communication firms. As a sole proprieter committed to membership-driven organizational development, I take time to get to know your organization and its mission. With a number of years of professional experience in non-profit communication, I know the resources to draw upon for organizational growth and sustainability. As a media junkie, I’m constantly Facebooking, tweeting, yelping, and Skyping.
Take a moment to contact me and tell me a little about your organization and what you’d like to accomplish together. I look forward to our partnership.
